Sophia's Pages May 2009 Velvet & Tweed, a blossoming specialty children's wear company based in San Francisco, has launched its online shop offering its customers full access to the brand's charming assortment of boys and girls apparel. "We ship four mini-collections a year with pieces that are made to mix and match, but retailers rarely buy the entire collection because they need to work with additional inventory and brands," says owner and designer Tina Schreiber. "The online store allows customers to purchase pieces they can't find locally but may work with pieces they have already bought at their favorite boutique." In addition, the brand's distribution has been geographically clustered in New York and Northern California. The online store expands the brand's reach to more markets like the South, Midwest and Southwest, which welcome the brand's classic, charming aesthetic. The online shop also offers busy moms the convenience of online shopping. "We are happy to present the online shop, which was over a year in the making, and we feel captures the sweet yet sophisticated look of the brand," Schreiber says.
